Block 5
The Block 5 area is equal to 4,555 square kilometres. The consortium of ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Cyprus (Offshore) Limited / QatarEnergy International E&P LLC is planning its exploration works.
Block 6
The Block 6 area is equal to 3,420 square kilometres. In February 2018, the Eni Cyprus Limited / TotalEnergies EP Cyprus B.V. consortium completed the drilling of the "Calypso-1" exploration well. Based on the data obtained including the preliminary interpretation, the well encountered a gas column in formations covered by evaporites. In addition, in October 2022 the drilling operations of the "Cronos-1" exploration well completed and preliminary estimates of in-place natural gas resources is 2.5 Tcf. Also, in December 2022 the preliminary results of "Zeus-1" exploration well indicate in-place natural gas-resources of 2-3 Tcf. Further geological/geophysical studies and drilling works are expected to be carried out as part of the evaluation programs for the Cronos and Zeus discoveries. At the beginning of 2024, the "Cronos-2" appraisal well was completed, and its results are under study.
Block 7
The Block 7 area is equal to 4,560 square kilometres. The consortium of TotalEnergies EP Cyprus B.V. / Eni Cyprus Limited is planning its exploration works.
Block 8
The Block 8 area is equal to 4,560 square kilometres. The consortium of Eni Cyprus Limited / TotalEnergies EP Cyprus B.V. is planning its exploration works.
Block 10
The Block 10 area is equal to 1,927 square kilometres. The consortium of ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Cyprus (Offshore) Limited / QatarEnergy International E&P LLC completed in 2019 the drilling works of the "Glaucus-1" exploration well. Based on the preliminary interpretation of well data, the discovery represents an in-place natural gas resource of approximately 5 to 8 trillion cubic feet. The "Glaucus-1" drilling was the second of a two-well drilling program in Block 10. The first well, “Delphyne-1”, did not encounter commercial quantities of hydrocarbons.
Block 11
The Block 11 area is equal to 1,472 square kilometres. The TotalEnergies EP Cyprus B.V. / Eni Cyprus Limited consortium completed in September 2017 the drilling works of the "Onesiphoros-1" exploration well. The well did not encounter commercial quantities of hydrocarbons.
Block 12 - "Aphrodite" Natural Gas Field
The area of the “Aphrodite” Field in Block 12 is equal to 386 square kilometres. The consortium of Chevron Cyprus Limited / NewMed Energy Limited Parthnership / BG Cyprus Limited has been granted a Hydrocarbon Exploitation Licence for the development of the "Aphrodite" natural gas field. Two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) seismic surveys have been carried out in Block 12. The assessment of the results of the “Cyprus-1” exploration well (2011), the “Cyprus A-2” appraisal well and the production testing (2013) resulted in the discovery of an estimated resource of 4.5 trillion cubic feet.
