Exploitation Licenses

Natural Gas Field “Aphrodite”

Chevron Cyprus Limited (35%) «Operator» / NewMed Energy Limited Partnership (30%) / BG Cyprus Limited (35%)

  • Discovered in December 2011 in Block 12.
  • Historically, it is the first discovery of natural gas in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus.
  • The best estimate of gas-in-place resources is 6.0 Tcf.
  • The Exploitation Licence was granted in November 2019.
  • The Development and Production Plan includes the production of natural gas through subsea infrastructure, processing on a floating production unit (FPU) and transportation via a subsea offshore pipeline to Egypt for sale in the country's domestic market. Part of the natural gas can be liquefied and exported as liquefied natural gas (LNG) to European and international markets.

Natural Gas Field “Cronos”

Eni Cyprus Limited (50%) «Operator» / TotalEnergies EP Cyprus B.V. (50%)

  • Discovered in August 2022 in Block 6.
  • The best estimate of gas-in-place resources is 3.1 Tcf.
  • The Exploitation Licence was granted in June 2026.
  • The Development and Production Plan includes the production of natural gas through subsea infrastructure and a pipeline connection to the offshore Zohr facilities in order to transport it to the onshore Zohr facilities for processing. It will then be converted into liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the Damietta LNG Terminal and exported to European and international markets. Part of natural gas can be sold to the Egyptian domestic market.
